Correspondence, 1883-1888.

A group of letters written mostly by a pen pal named Henry Linderman, that begin in 1883 with interesting discussions of his life and work as a cowboy on a ranch in Kansas. In 1886, he changes occupation to that of traveling roof builder, and thus the content of the letters changed greatly to less interesting and somewhat brief discussions of life on the road. This group of letters also includes three items written by friends residing in the vicinity of Oroville, California, that provide good descriptions of the social life and customs of the area as well as the climate and topographical features of the landscape.

18 items.
